Famous Fenway Author Series

By Karlsie

This Friday (August 12), Jerry Remy and Lou Gorman will be speaking as part of the Famous Fenway Writer Series from noon until 1:30 pm. The cost is $45 and includes a signed copy of their books as well as an "upscale" ball park lunch in the Hall of Fame club. (Meaning, they have Italian Sausages, salad, yummy chocolate gooey things as well as hot dogs.)

I started attending these a couple of months ago when they kicked it off with Dan Shaughnessy and it really is a great little event in an intimate venue. I can't say enough about this series. Maybe it's because I'm a Sox fan; maybe it's because I'm from the smartest state in the country (thanks for that tidbit and ego boost Yankee Sonshine); maybe it's because I'm a writer; maybe because being Italian and anything involving food is something of note - but this is a wonderful gem.

For those of us who grew up reading the sports pages first and the comics last (to cheer ourselves up after the depression brought on by the "hard" news), it really is a great reminder of how talented, and overlooked, sports writers are.

If you, or anyone else you know, is interested, contact Meg Donovan at the Red Sox: mdonovan@redsox.com for reservations.
