Old Time Radio
By Karlsie
For us geeks that have XM radio so we can follow baseball (yes, I am that much of a geek at times), an pleasant bonuse is Bob Dylan's "Theme Time Radio Hour." His baseball show last April was a fabulous hour of music I grew up hearing. At the time I remember thinking, "too bad I can't TiVo this like I do with my TV shows..." In fact, the show was so well received that it has been "inducted" to Cooperstown.
So imagine my delight yesterday when, in purchasing the new Dylan CD, the guy at the register gave me a copy of that same radio hour I wished I could record for my listening pleasure. For those of you who missed this musical treasure, run - don't walk - to your local record store and see if you can pick up a copy. If not, this weekend XM is doing an 18 hour marathon of all of Dylan's shows so far - so try to catch it. You won't regret it.
Even if it means you get "Joltin' Joe DiMaggio" stuck in your head for a couple of days.
Joltin' Joe DiMagggggio.... Didja see Jackie Robinson hit that ba--... Ok wait, totally mixed two songs up, my bad.
Good article, good link, good times all around.
Nice to see you writing more, Karlsie.

Jack...
Do you think the Sox have ANY chance of seeing the postseason this year? The Yanks have been lights out since the All-Star break, and I hate to say it, they look like one heckuva a confident ball club right now. The wild card will, in all likelihood come out of the Central.
So, I guess then, what I'm asking is -- is there any chance we can pick up 9 games in a month? Or is it time to start thinking about the Patriots?
What do you think, Jack?

Monty,
A majority of the East Coast Media (fairweather and annoying as they may be) seem to think so. Nine games out of the division? Scratch that idea, there's no way they can make up that slack in one month.
As for the wild card? Well, if the Twins don't get Liriano back, Chicago's pitching begins choking games again and the Indians start playing spoiler, there is a chance that the BoSpx can win the Wild Card.
Unfortunately, the Red Sox will need to play strictly A-Ball for the rest of the season (think August of '04) to even get a chance at the post season.
It's possible, but I would think that you will know for sure by September 8th. If they've dropped another game or two back by then, I'd consider it over.
Cheers,
Jack Jablin
Hey we won a 1 run game behind Kason Gabbard tonight, it may not be the saving grace yet, but that could be the jump start to making a late run. If we can get some wins strung together we could come back, and with the Yanks losing to KC 5-0 it looks like we're gonna gain some ground tonight.
G'day
I'm new! Love the site, thanks!
